Another bit of productivity yesterday in spite of Randy needing to leave early (… or was that the source of productivity, hmm…?). Work on the stickier bits on several new pieces as well as a new exploration into bitonality inspired by Stravinsky’s Rite Of Spring (an edited portion is posted as the weekly teaser). The general consensus has been to work on pieces like this in hopes of writing more thematically unified works and stand those in stark juxtaposition with the shorter more accessible numbers. The plan at this point is to continue working through the holidays and to begin recording early next year. RM
You got the right one, Ba-ba-aye… Uh, huh!

Work continued on what would have been Hendrix’s 68th birthday and to commemorate what might’ve been we recorded a pre-production demo of the least Hendrix-like song we could come up with. It has often been pondered, “had Hendrix lived…” and while I hate the thought of Jimi doing Pepsi commercials, well… Mass Culture is a powerful thing…

Another Year Older…

A big Happy Birthday to Gary who turned 116 years old today! He’s having his hip replaced and the joints of his fingers lubricated to play all of the snaky, twisting guitar parts he comes up with. You know, the one that I just fake…

Rehearsal, Pilgrims, Bean & Leaf

As I prepared to make the trip to CT with Guitar Circle New England for our performance at the Bean & Leaf on Saturday the remaining Intervalers gathered in a secret basement location decorated in Iggy Pop and JFK posters in hopes of redefining the music of a generation in a few short hours. While I’m certain that they succeeded, they are not yet revealing the fruits of their labor and I’m left only to “wait and see.” (cue Tom Petty) The list of material is growing, being refined, revised and regurgitated into something special. Hey… at least we think so but we are in the band so what do we know. For those of you in the Granite State be sure to see our own Eric Riccio perform with his better half, Savage Pilgrim on Saturday at Johnny Bad’s in Manchester, NH. Bring your own cranberry sauce…

Reading, ‘Riting and ‘Rhythmatic

Work on new material continued on Saturday with focus on a brand new song in the vein of heavy sludge rock greats Black Sabbath, Wizard and Van Halen sure to appeal to the 18-24 crowd with a strong leaning toward to males. Our jazz-influenced drummer found it especially challenging to play sooo… sloooooow… ly… Currently, we are on the doorstep of roughly 6 new songs which we plan to begin recording in the next month or so.
